Whether you decide to donate a kidney or not, we would like you to know some facts about donating organs and tissues. For any type of organ donation, Alberta has the Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Registry on MyHealth.Alberta.ca.

This website allows you to register to become a donor. You’ll find information about becoming a donor and the donation process. It’s important that you understand what it means to be a donor and how important your choice is. Talk about organ donation with your family and friends. Let them know if you’ve signed up to be a donor. They will then be prepared to speak on your behalf. The more people who join the provincial re​gistry, the more organ donations can happen.

National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week is in April each year. Watch for local events, and support donation awareness within your community.

You can join the registry in 3 ways:

• Go to the Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Registry page on MyHealth.Alberta.ca.
• Say “Yes” when getting, or rene​wing, your dr​iver’s licence.
• Sign the back of your healthcare card.
