OverviewBecoming a DonorConsent to DonateDonation ProcessRelated Info
The Alberta Organ and Tissue Donation Registry is the place to register your consent to become an organ or tissue donor. It’s easy. You can register completely online, and there is nothing to sign or send by mail.

You can also register by visiting an Alberta Registry Agent office.

It’s important to understand what it means to be a donor and why your choice matters. Talk to your family and loved ones about what you want, and tell them you have registered to be a donor. This will help them carry out your wishes.

To learn more about organ and tissue donation, including who can be a donor, registering consent, and how donation works, go to Organ and Tissue Donation in Alberta.

The Organ and Tissue Donation Registry is a way to record your wishes to donate organs and/or tissues after you die. Follow the steps in the registry to give your consent about donating organs and/or tissues.

People that need transplants are matched to an available organ based on many factors. Information is used to help medical specialists decide which recipient is the best match for the organ that is available.

Donor coordinators (nurses with special training) coordinate all organ donations and work with the eye and tissue programs in the province. They provide follow-up support and communicate with donor families.

For more information about the donation process, please see Donation Process.
